There are now many tough challenges for Pokémon games. But now, a streamer has mastered what is by far the most difficult challenge.
Prince George, Canada – Pokémon games have been enjoying more and more attention on Twitch in recent years. Although the official main games are also streamed a lot, it is still special challenges that make the internet so excited. Countless mods give the games a special twist or generally provide a greater challenge. Streamer SmallAnt has now achieved what few have achieved before him.
Pokémon Kaizo Ironmon – What is the Challenge?
This is what makes the challenge so difficult: First of all, the Pokémon FireRed version will be completely randomized. This means that all Pokémon, Trainer-type Pokémon, Moves, Items, and TMs will be randomly rolled. So instead of the usual three starters Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander, you could have Karpador, Taubsi and Dragoon to choose from, for example. But that's not the part that makes the game so difficult, because there are a lot of other rules that we've listed here.
- Permadeath: When a Pokémon is defeated, it is dead and must be discarded. In order to strengthen the emotional bond with the Pokémon, each monster must be given a nickname.
- You are only allowed to have one Pokémon with you. If you catch a new one, you have to replace your old one with it immediately.
- You can only catch one Pokémon per route. The level of this must not be higher than your own.
- Your Pokémon must not have a stat maximum higher than 600.
- Opposing Pokémon are 50% stronger.
- Important coaches have bigger teams than they usually have.
- No type of healing item may be used outside of combat.
- You can't fight wild Pokémon so you don't gain experience points.
The Kaizo Ironmon Challenge is so extensive that there are actually more rules, but this overview should illustrate just how hard this mode actually is.
Pokémon Kaizo Ironmon – How SmallAnt Won the Challenge
How did he do it? SmallAnt is anything but a small name in the Pokémon community. With challenges such as no-damage or pacifist runs, he has often proven that he knows the games inside out. His stamina is also impressive. It took him 1,786 attempts to win Kaizo Ironmon. In the last stream alone, he tried 85 times in a row. He himself calls it Pokémon's "toughest challenge" on Twitter.

In the end, you often need a bit of luck and SmallAnt has had plenty of that. In the last fight, the opponent's Deoxys failed to hit him three times with a hydro pump. The odds of this happening are 1 in 125. His Pokémon certainly wouldn't have survived one hit of it, and then the run would have been over. While he's not the first to achieve this victory, he's still a household name on Twitch, and his success brings even more attention to the ever-increasing gaming trend.

The popularity of such difficult challenges is growing steadily. Other games have also attracted more attention. Hardly anyone knows these 8 ingenious co-op games – this has to change.
